Fred VanVleet of the Houston Rockets has been elected as the new president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), taking over from CJ McCollum. His four-year term begins immediately. VanVleet, a seasoned guard who signed a two-year, $50 million contract to remain with the Rockets, brings a wealth of experience, having won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and earning an All-Star selection in 2022.

CJ McCollum, who recently was traded to the Washington Wizards, concluded his term by spearheading the negotiations for a significant seven-year collective bargaining agreement. Although his presidency has ended, McCollum is expected to continue his contributions in an advisory capacity.
