The Knicks faced setbacks in their search, with multiple teams rebuffing requests for their respective coaches, including the Dallas Mavericks denying an interview for Jason Kidd. Houston Rockets' Ime Udoka and Minnesota Timberwolves' Chris Finch likewise turned down the Knicks' requests. The Knicks also sought to speak with Atlanta Hawks coach Quin Snyder but were denied access as well.
