After selecting Oregon OT Josh Conerly Jr. with the 29th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they also secured five-time Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil in a trade with the Houston Texans. General Manager Adam Peters confirmed that Tunsil will play left tackle, implying a major shift in the team's offensive line strategy.

This restructuring will likely position both Tunsil and Conerly as starting tackles, enhancing the protection for Washington's quarterback. Last season's right tackle Andrew Wylie may transition to right guard until Sam Cosmi recovers from a knee injury. Peters hinted at versatility in Conerly's skill set, noting he can also play guard, which opens up further competition for the line positions.
