MacKinnon, who also clinched the 2024 Hart Trophy, amassed an impressive 116 points this season, tying for the league lead in assists with 84. His teammate, Cale Makar, joins him as a finalist, having set a career high with 92 points, while Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning rounds out the trio with a league-leading 121 points.

This marks a historic moment as MacKinnon and Makar become the first teammates to be nominated since the award's reintroduction in 2010. Kucherov's stellar season earned him his third Art Ross Trophy, emphasizing the competitive nature of this year’s award.
