The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a strategic addition to their goaltending lineup by trading for Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks. In exchange, the Penguins sent forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick to Vancouver. Silovs, who was pivotal in leading the Abbotsford Canucks to the Calder Cup title while earning MVP honors, posted impressive numbers in the AHL playoffs, including a 2.01 goals-against average and five shutouts.

Despite his AHL success, Silovs struggled in his limited NHL experience last season, recording only a 2-6-1 record with a 3.65 GAA and .861 save percentage in ten games. However, he joins a deep goaltending pool in Pittsburgh, which includes Tristan Jarry and newcomers like Sergei Murashov and Joel Blomqvist. Silovs, under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season at a cap hit of $850,000, will compete for the backup position behind Jarry in training camp.
