Burakovsky, who has faced injury setbacks in recent seasons, rebounded with a commendable performance, playing 79 games and contributing 37 points (10 goals, 27 assists) during the 2024-25 season. His contract has two years left with a $5.5 million cap hit per season. In a statement, Kraken GM Jason Botterill acknowledged Burakovsky's value to the team and expressed well wishes for his future in Chicago. Veleno, showing promise with eight goals and nine assists across 74 games, returns to Seattle as part of this trade, allowing the Kraken to enhance their salary cap flexibility.
