Washington Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren has been placed on injured reserve after sustaining a head injury during a game against the Montreal Canadiens. The incident occurred early in the second period when Lindgren was struck by Nick Suzuki, who was pushed into him by Brandon Duhaime. Before his exit, Lindgren had successfully stopped all nine shots he faced, contributing to a 1-0 lead for the Capitals.
With Lindgren sidelined, the Capitals have called up Hunter Shepard from the Hershey Bears in the AHL. Shepard, who may make his NHL debut against the Nashville Predators, has enjoyed a successful season with a record of 15 wins and 7 losses, alongside a 2.68 goals-against average. Lindgren will be out for at least a week, with his first possible return set for January 18 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
