The first-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft has had a challenging first season, hitting .228 with 10 RBIs in 136 plate appearances. Meanwhile, the Red Sox recalled David Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester to fill Mayer's spot. Hamilton, known for his speed, previously had a tough time at the plate but will look to contribute for Boston as they sit third in the AL East.
