The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league pitcher Joe Vogatsky.
Valdez, who struggled with a .214 batting average and six home runs in 65 games last season, has shown promise in the minors with a .233 average and 11 homers in 50 games for Triple-A Worcester. The 25-year-old was previously designated for assignment after the Red Sox added Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox.
