The Los Angeles Dodgers faced yet another setback as reliever Evan Phillips has been placed on the Injured List due to forearm discomfort. This follows a previous stint on the IL for a right rotator cuff tear. Since returning on April 19, Phillips has been effective, not allowing a run in 5.2 innings over seven games. His injury coincides with a troubling trend for the Dodgers, who are already missing key pitchers, including Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow.

In response to Phillips' injury, the Dodgers activated right-hander Matt Sauer, who has previously contributed 6.2 innings this season. The Dodgers' bullpen has had to adapt with several high leverage opportunities given to less experienced pitchers like Ben Casparius and Jack Dreyer. Coach Dave Roberts has expressed hope that Phillips’ absence is precautionary, and that he will return to bolster the pitching staff soon.
