New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor suffered a right pinky toe fracture after being hit by a pitch, but remains optimistic about avoiding the injured list. Manager Carlos Mendoza reported Lindor as day-to-day, with hopes for a return against the Colorado Rockies.

The injury occurred when Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin's slider hit Lindor's foot. Despite the pain, Lindor played through the entire game, and X-rays later confirmed the fracture. He described the pain as most intense when wearing sneakers or cleats, suggesting it could be a lingering issue lasting about six weeks.

In Lindor's absence, Luisangel Acuña stepped in at shortstop, while Brandon Nimmo took over as the Mets' leadoff hitter. Lindor, an MVP runner-up last season, is currently enjoying a strong season, boasting a .279 batting average with 14 home runs and 11 steals.
