The Minnesota Twins have bolstered their infield by acquiring Kody Clemens from the Philadelphia Phillies after the latter designated him for assignment. The 28-year-old Clemens, son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, was brought in following an injury to rookie Luke Keaschall, who suffered a broken forearm during a game against the Angels.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli indicated that Clemens would provide versatility, as he can play multiple positions including first base, second base, and even both corner outfield spots. With a modest batting average of .197 and an OPS of .611 over his career, Clemens has yet to find consistent success at the major league level, but he expressed excitement about the opportunity with Minnesota.
