Manager Rob Thomson emphasized the need for a reset, stating that it’s not uncommon for young pitchers to face such challenges. Abel’s minor league performance this season was strong, with a 2.53 ERA in eight starts, suggesting he has the potential to rebound. Taijuan Walker is set to fill in for Abel as the fifth starter, bringing experience after alternating between the rotation and bullpen this season.
