Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander is still recovering from a partially dislocated left shoulder sustained in early May. General manager Ross Atkins confirmed that Santander is on the injured list as of May 30, following his collision with the outfield wall in Anaheim. The slugger, who signed a lucrative five-year, $92.5 million contract in January, is expected to resume swinging soon, with hopes of returning before the All-Star break. The 2024 season has proven challenging for Santander, who has not matched his 44-home run, 102-RBI performance from last year, currently batting .179 with six home runs and 18 RBIs in 50 games.

In addition to Santander’s situation, shortstop Bo Bichette was scratched from the lineup due to a sore right knee. The team shuffled its lineup, moving Ernie Clement to shortstop and elevating him to the leadoff spot. Other positional changes included Addison Barger at third base and George Springer from designated hitter to right field.
