The NFL playoffs are approaching, and teams are facing critical injury concerns as they head into the final week of the regular season. Notable injuries could impact playoff aspirations for several franchises.
For the Cincinnati Bengals, running back Chase Brown suffered an ankle sprain during a game against the Cleveland Browns. Although the injury isn't deemed serious, his availability for the crucial matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers remains uncertain. If Brown is unable to play, former Chicago Bears player Khalil Herbert is expected to see an increase in carries.
The Miami Dolphins are also dealing with injury issues, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed the recent victory over the Browns due to a hip injury. With the Dolphins still in the playoff hunt, there is pressure for Tagovailoa to return for their upcoming game against the New York Jets. This marks the fourth season in the last five where he has missed at least four games due to injury.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings are monitoring Aaron Jones, who exited a game against the Green Bay Packers with a quad contusion. Fortunately, this injury is not severe, and he stands a good chance of returning for a rematch against the Detroit Lions. Should Jones be sidelined, veteran Cam Akers is poised to take over as the starting running back.
Lastly, the Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a rib injury to backup quarterback Kenny Pickett. He played admirably in relief of the injured Jalen Hurts during a significant win over the Dallas Cowboys but had to leave the game after sustaining several hard hits. If Pickett cannot play in Week 18, second-year player Tanner McKee would step in as the starting quarterback.
