The Detroit Lions have bolstered their linebacker unit by signing veteran Zach Cunningham ahead of the OTA sessions. At 30 years old, Cunningham brings a wealth of experience, having spent eight seasons in the NFL, with notable success during his time at the Houston Texans.

Drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Vanderbilt, Cunningham rose to prominence by leading the NFL in tackles in 2020 and recording over 100 tackles for three consecutive seasons. His recent stint involved less playing time with the Denver Broncos, and he had a more active role with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, where he started 10 games.

In Detroit, he is expected to compete for a backup position behind starters Jack Campbell and Alex Anzalone, adding depth and experience to the defense as the Lions aim to improve their standing in the league.
