The Detroit Lions have released defensive end James Houston, who struggled to replicate his impressive rookie performance. After a promising start with eight sacks in seven games during his debut season, Houston's production dwindled following a leg injury that limited him last year.

Despite being active for eight games this season, he managed only one sack. Lions coach Dan Campbell noted that sometimes a fresh start is necessary, especially with injuries affecting the team's edge rushers.
