Samsonov stops 31 shots as Golden Knights earn sixth straight win, 3-0 over the Flames

The Vegas Golden Knights continued their impressive run with a decisive 3-0 victory over the Calgary Flames, marking their sixth consecutive win in the NHL. Brett Howden was a standout player, scoring his 15th goal of the season by redirecting a shot from defenseman Alex Pietrangelo late in the second period. His performance ties him with Ivan Barbashev for the team lead in goals, and he has now found the net in four of the last five games.

In addition to Howden, Victor Olofsson and Tanner Pearson also contributed goals for the Golden Knights, who have successfully shut out the Flames twice this season, including a previous 5-0 victory on October 28. The Golden Knights now hold a record of 25 wins, 8 losses, and 3 overtime losses, demonstrating their dominance with a 13-2-1 record against Pacific Division opponents.

Calgary's Dan Vladar made 34 saves, but the Flames struggled, dropping to 17 wins, 12 losses, and 7 overtime losses. This game marked Calgary's fourth back-to-back set this season, where they have had mixed results. The Flames are now 3-1-0 in the first game of back-to-backs but have struggled in the second game, holding a 1-3-0 record.

A significant moment in the game came when the Golden Knights successfully defended against a Calgary power play, including a critical 5-on-3 situation after Howden received a double-minor penalty. Goalie Ilya Samsonov was instrumental during this sequence, stopping five shots. Furthermore, Jack Eichel played his 200th game as a Golden Knight, while head coach Bruce Cassidy also celebrated his 200th game with the team.

Looking ahead, the Flames will host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, while the Golden Knights will face off against the Montreal Canadiens at home.
