The Texas Rangers have placed catcher Kyle Higashioka on the 10-day injured list due to a mild left intercostal strain. The injury was retroactive to when Higashioka missed a game against the Athletics because of sore ribs. In response, the Rangers recalled right-hander Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Round Rock. Tucker Barnhart, who was selected from Round Rock, took over as the starting catcher for the series finale against Oakland. Higashioka, who joined Texas on a two-year deal, has a batting average of .254 with one home run and eight RBIs across 17 games this season. Meanwhile, Boushley has struggled in his previous appearances for Texas, allowing five runs across 7.2 innings this season.
