The Texas Rangers have signed two notable players, Nick Ahmed and Sam Haggerty, to minor league contracts, signaling their intent to enhance their roster as spring training approaches. Ahmed, a two-time Gold Glove shortstop, has a storied history in the majors, having played for multiple teams including San Francisco, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Diego. Known for his defensive prowess, he was the Diamondbacks' all-time leader in shortstop starts. Last season, he recorded a batting average of .229 with two home runs and 17 RBIs over 71 games.

Haggerty, primarily an outfielder, has also had a challenging road, having played in 191 games over five seasons with the Seattle Mariners and making his MLB debut with the New York Mets. Last year, he faced injury setbacks, limiting him to just 15 at-bats before suffering a torn Achilles tendon. The addition of these two players brings the Rangers' total to 27 non-roster invitees for spring training, which begins on February 17 in Arizona.
