Despite some speculation suggesting that his injury was a ploy to facilitate a trade, Carr emphasized his commitment to the Saints, stating, "there's nothing wrong" with his relationship with the team.

General Manager Mickey Loomis also confirmed Carr's shoulder injury but refrained from elaborating on the quarterback's future with the franchise. The Saints further fueled speculation about Carr's status by using their second-round draft pick to select quarterback Tyler Shough from Louisville. This move indicates that Shough might compete for the starting position in 2025, should Carr’s health prevent him from playing.
